The Future of AI

Updated: 6 days ago

For me, opening up is a way to prepare our minds and hearts in times of great uncertainty. It speaks to the care we need—both systemically and interpersonally.

On October 8–9, 2024, I joined the Cities Roundtable as part of the City of Amsterdam at the World Summit AI 2024. Our focus was to co-shape the first vision on the future of AI, mental health, and the living environment of younger and future generations. We were honored to contribute to this important conversation.Thank you, Bas Verhart, for the invitation.

Among the many insightful presentations, Sennay Ghebreab shared a powerful reflection that deeply resonated: “AI is a mirror into the soul of who we are. As individuals, as cities, as societies.” We aim to cultivate processes that open up our deeper shared intelligence in the face of AI, and find healthy ways to treat AI as our new respected partner in co-creating a world worth living in. Participants included representatives from the Greater London Authority, Câmara Municipal do Porto, City of Vienna, and Gemeente Rotterdam.

This gathering was all about collaboration and exchange - bringing together European cities, scientists, and business leaders to explore the intersection of AI, digital life, youth, and mental health.

Later this year, the first municipal vision on AI will be presented - created together with experts of all ages.
