in Breathwork
Is it possible that one could think of mental health care in radically different ways? This Open Up academic breathwork study is meant to create a shift in the future of health and the future of education. With the result we help to deepen our scientific understanding of how breath work brings about personal change; biologically and psychologically.
This study, set out and initiated by Katrien Franken was published on September 8th, 2023. It presents the first investigation into the immediate into the immediate neuropsychological effects of connected breathing breathwork, as well as perceived changes in mood and consciousness during the experience, in healthy individuals.

Open Up in Africa
Open Up is foregrounding the power of inner growth. This youth-centric development project, initiated and set out by Katrien Franken was launched in 2021 to youngsters in Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Uganda, Africa. The program offers the fundamentals of breath work & inquiry in a holistic approach to support the inner health, mastery and longevity of emerging adults.
We are currently creating possibilities for refugee youth in Tanzania and Nairobi. Consider supporting us and our local refugees and communities involved.
